Consuming Kids: How Marketing Undermines Children’s Health, Values & Behavior

More than 100 scholars, activists, parents, students, and journalists attended CCFC’s first summit held outside of New York City. The summit  kicked off with a lobbying day as attendees visited their representatives on Capital Hill to push for regulations to protect children from harmful marketing.  Other highlights from the weekend included a surprise visit from legendary consumer advocate Ralph Nader; a number of eye-opening panels on how marketers target minority youth, and presentations by Representative Sean Fairlcoth (Maine) and Nell “the Movie Mom” Minow.  In a clear indication of CCFC’s growing influence, the summit’s last day was broadcast in its entirety on C-SPAN.
